Last Saturday, I had the unique privilege of sharing the stage with Boo, aka my husband, Danny, at the San Diego Writers Festival. This was such a fun experience for me! Danny is usually responsible for handling all of the tech for my presentations so having him at my side, instead of behind the scenes, was so special 💖 I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for him, so it meant the world to me to have him recognized as my partner.
Danny kept insisting he was nervous about being on stage, but doesn't he look like a natural? He did a fantastic job answering some very thoughtful questions from the audience, and then he acted as my interviewer and had me delve into the intricacies of my writing process...
We spoke about how the time I spent writing 'Dying to Be Me' was both my refuge and my revelation, and Danny having the opportunity to chime in and offer his perspective and support, made the entire on stage experience profoundly enriching for me (and, I hope, for everyone who joined us)!
The festival was a beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling and the deep connections it fosters among us. It was truly an honor to be in the company of so many gifted writers and enthusiastic lovers of literature. One of the most humbling moments of the event was being honored with the 'Living Legend Award'. To receive such recognition is deeply moving, and it fills me with an immense sense of responsibility and purpose. This accolade is not just for me but for all of us who dare to dream, to write, and to share our truths with the world. I am eternally grateful for this honor, and I dedicate it to you, my cherished readers, who have been my unwavering support and inspiration.
As I look to the future, my heart is alight with excitement for the information that have yet to pour out of me. There are so many tales still untold, so many experiences and insights I yearn to share with you. The journey of writing is endless, and I am thrilled to continue this adventure, knowing that you are with me every step of the way.
